Born in 1982 in Newton, Kansas, my family moved several times through Kansas and Oklahoma before settling in Northwest Arkansas where I spent the remainder of my youth. I graduated from Rogers High School in 2001 and ultimately moved back to Kansas at the end of 2003 to continue my education at Washburn University where I worked on a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology. Unfortunately, I was not able to complete this because of the traveling requirement of the job I held at the time. To resolve this, I transferred to Colorado Technical University and completed a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology Business Management in May of 2007 through their online education program. Now in a different employment position I am once again pursuing a degree from Washburn, this time I’m looking to earn a Masters in Business Management.
I believe that at heart, everyone is a good person that given the right opportunity, would chose honorable path. However, I do understand that many people chose to ignore what is right and take a path that can only benefit themselves. I have several theories as to why this is more common place now-a-days but most of them boil down to one simple statement: People in general have lost their sense of community. Either because they don’t feel their voice is heard or have a since of connection other members of the community. One of my goals is to help others get feel their voice is heard and be proud of the community they call home.
